Generic 486
Generic, beige box, IBM PC/AT clones such as this one practically defined 90s computing. Computer shops everywhere sold custom-built DOS machines for every occasion. While this particular computer wasn't actually built in the 90s by a local, mom-and-pop (I built it throughout January 2021), it is comprised of period components spanning from around 1993 to 1997. It features a 66MHz i486 OverDrive, 16MB of RAM, a quad speed CD-ROM, a 1.6GB hard drive, and both 360KB and 1.44MB floppy drives. It also has an ESS AudioDrive, which is a Sound Blaster clone. The system currently runs MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1 and is mostly used for playing DOS era games and writing 360KB floppies for my IBM PCjr and Morrow Designs Micro Decision MD-3.
